Available thesis projects

I offer BSc and MSc thesis projects in the fields of binary stellar evolution, gravitational-wave astrophysics, and multi-messenger studies of gravitational-wave sources. Possible projects may involve data analysis, machine learning applied to large datasets, theoretical modelling, and software development.

If you are interested in a thesis project, please feel free to get in touch. Open PhD positions, when available, will also be announced here.

Possible thesis topics (BSc and MSc)

  • Population studies of compact binaries to investigate their formation channels and evolutionary history
  • Parameter estimation for different classes of compact binaries
  • Evolutionary modelling of evolved stars in compact binaries using the stellar evolution code MESA
  • Multi-messenger predictions for Galactic binaries that are strong gravitational-wave sources
  • Development concepts for a new time-domain telescope
  • Software development for public catalogues of gravitational-wave sources
